About Us

There's a certain kind of pride that comes from running a business that's older than most of the buildings around it. Ours started in 1920, in a small corner of Friesland, long before anyone could have imagined that people would one day be buying vases through a screen. Back then it was simply about goods people needed and wanted in their homes, glassware, porcelain, earthenware, the kind of things that made a house feel a little more complete.

Over the decades the business changed hands, changed shape, and changed with the times, the way any company that survives a century has to. What never changed was the idea behind it. We've always believed that the objects you keep in your home should be made well, should last, and should feel like they belong there rather than just sitting there.

Today the company is run by Marjan Jacobi - de Vries, who has been at the helm since 2007 and who carries that same philosophy into what we do now. Along the way we tried other materials, other shapes, other ideas of what this business could be. But we kept coming back to porcelain. There's something about it that fits the same values the business was built on all those years ago. It's a material with quiet confidence, glazed, considered, finished by hand, the kind of thing that looks just as at home on a windowsill today as it would have a hundred years ago.

That's really the whole story behind what you'll find here. Vases glazed to hold water and flowers the moment they arrive. Pieces finished with the same care whether they're simple or ornate. Objects that could sit on a table for a decade and still look like they belong there. We're not chasing the newest look or the fastest trend. We're doing what this business has quietly done since 1920, offering things that are made to actually be used and to stick around.

We're based in De Veenhoop, a small and quiet part of the Netherlands, and even though we now reach people well beyond our own front door, that sense of place and history hasn't left us. More than a hundred years in, we're still doing the same basic thing we started out doing. Finding good, honest objects and putting them into people's homes.
